Powder Coating Information
These are the four things we do before powder coating our costumers parts.
First: thoroughly strip and clean your metal part before coating.
Second: Pre heat parts to 450 deg to remove all impurity's like oil and solvents from out of the metals pores out-gassing.
Third: Coat the entire parts using 30,000 volt gun system.
Fourth: Cure parts to the cure temperature of the powder coating powder. (not all powders have to same curing temperature)
There are two main types of Powder Coating Powders:Therm o-sets and Thermoplastics. The therm o setting kind has a cross-linker into the chemical. When heat is put to the powder, it starts to reacts and mix with other chemical compounds in the Powder Coating Powder to polymerize, enhancing the powder's performance. The thermoplastic Powder Coating Powder will not go into any more reactions in the oven baking process, flows out in the final powder coating look.
